Education, Regulation, and Enforcement

The City of Sacramento takes a collaborative approach to the management of cannabis, which includes multiple agencies working together to address cannabis regulation, enforcement and education. This Cannabis Information Center provides links to important information about adult- and medical cannabis use for residents, visitors, and businesses.
We’ve also teamed up with the County of Sacramento to start the conversation with young people in your life about marijuana. Talk to your kids, talk to other parents, and help Sacramento youth focus on their future and say no to consuming marijuana.
Be educated. Be responsible.

Talk to your kids about marijuana

You might be surprised at how much influence your words, actions, and opinions can have on your child’s choices.

Teen brains react differently to marijuana than adult brains

Adolescence is a time of rapid brain growth and regular long-term use by teens causes long-term damage to developing brain structures.

Adult-use cannabis - must be 21+

Adult-use cannabis is cannabis that can be purchased by adults 21 and over and does not require a physician’s recommendation.

Can I grow cannabis?

You can possess up to six living cannabis plants inside your private residence. In the City of Sacramento, there’s a $500 fine per plant for possessing/cultivating more than six plants per household.
